L’inizio dell’attività risale intorno al 1890 con la stampa di copie eliografiche che venivano realizzate su una terrazza prospiciente il Castello Sforzesco a Milano.
Solo nel 1893 un documento della Camera di Commercio di Milano attesta l’esistenza della Società.
All’inizio del nuovo secolo viene importata dalla Francia la prima macchina eliografica, con, tra l’altro, la stampa degli spartiti musicali per la Scala di Milano. In questo periodo inizia anche l’ attività commerciale con la distribuzione di piccoli prodotti da disegno.
Ma è solo dopo la II° Guerra Mondiale che si stipulano i primi contratti di rappresentanza di articoli di cancelleria con rinomate aziende europee; le società LOTTER, LAUFER, ARISTO affidano alla Ditta Caimi il mercato italiano per la commercializzazione dei loro prodotti. Compassi, gomme, elastici, correttori , regoli calcolatori ed infine le prime calcolatrici portatili determinano in quegli anni il successo della Società.
Il 1975 è un data di svolta per l’Azienda che, sottoscrivendo con la società MONTBLANC il contratto di esclusiva per l’Italia per la distribuzione delle sue famose penne, inizierà ad affermarsi sul mercato in modo significativo, fino a far diventare il marchio Montblanc leader del mercato in Italia.
Al punto che nel 1992 verrà aperta la nuova società Montblanc Italia, joint venture tra i tedeschi e la Ditta Caimi.
Tra il ’92 e il ’94 la Società decide di specializzarsi in prodotti per l’ufficio e si arricchisce di nuove rappresentanze come BEAUTONE, SAKURA e SANFORD.
Questa strategia continua fino ai nostri giorni con l’assunzione di una serie di contratti in esclusiva per l’Italia.
Nel 1995 DAHLE e 3L. E tra il 2000 e il 2003 NOVUS, NT CUTTER, DECADRY, TARIFOLD.
Nel 2003 ,con l’acquisto degli stampi a marchio Presbitero, si avvia la progressiva introduzione di articoli a marchio proprio finché, nel 2007, questa politica porterà alla creazione del marchio Methodo che viene registrato ed assume rapidamente riconoscibilità presso i consumatori.
Inizia nel 2004 la distribuzione dei prodotti di ROTHO, ALCO, PANASONIC BATTERY e nel 2005 di DSB, PAPERFLOW, WEDO ed NT CUTTER per completarsi nel 2007 con le calcolatrici a marchio Citizen.
Durante gli ultimi anni la Ditta decide anche di sviluppare ulteriormente il servizio logistico e nel 2009 investe in un moderno magazzino di nuova costruzione.
Prosegue l’ampliamento della gamma introducendo nel 2011 il marchio MONTEVERDE che in pochi anni acquisisce una significativa riconoscibilità nel mercato, aprendo le porte a due ulteriori passaggi di grande risonanza nel mercato: l’inizio, nel 2014, della collaborazione con il prestigioso marchio Schneider, e quella con i marchi Filofax e Letts a far data da gennaio 2017.
Dal 1893 ad oggi, la storia di un’azienda sempre attuale.
The beginning of the activity dates back to around 1890 with the printing of heliographic copies, made on a terrace overlooking the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. The first document stating the existence of the Company, had been drawn up in 1893 by the Chamber of Commerce in Milano.
At the beginning of the new century, the first heliographic machine was imported from France, together with the printing of musical scores for the theater “La Scala” in Milan. During this period the company started also the distribution of small drawing equipment. But only after World War II, the first distribution agreements for stationary products, with well-known European companies, were signed. Indeed, companies like: LOTTER, LAUFER, ARISTO delivered to Caimi the exclusive distributionship of their products for the Italian market. Geometry compasses, erasers, rubber bands, correction fluids, slide rules, and the first portable calculators, established the success of the Company during these years.
During the year 1975 the Company came to a turning point by signing with the company MONTBLANC the exclusive contract, for the distribution of its famous branded products, in the Italian market, subsequently, in 1992, the German Montblanc, established an Italian subsidiary in Milano, thanks to a joint venture with the Company Caimi.
Between 1992 and 1994 the Company decided to focus in office products. New brands such as BEAUTONE, SAKURA and SANFORD joined therefore the product range.
The strategy of acquiring exclusive distribution contracts for the Italian market, continues up to the present day; in 1995 with DAHLE and 3L and between 2000 and 2003 with NOVUS, NT CUTTER, DECADRY and TARIFOLD. In 2003, by taking over the brand Presbitero, together with its moulds, the company introduced its first private label product range and in 2007 this policy led to the creation of the registered private label: Methodo, becoming soon widely acknowledged by the end users.
Other brands such as ROTHO, ALCO, PANASONIC BATTERY started to be distributed by Caimi in 2004, while the business with DSB, PAPERFLOW, WEDO and NT CUTTER arrived in 2005 and finally Citizen Calculators has been added in 2007.
Afterwards, the Company decided to further develop the logistics service and in 2009 moved to a modern new warehouse. The number of the new brands increased further with MONTEVERDE in 2011, achieving in few years a relevant success in the market and opening the doors to other two prestigious names in the market: SCHNEIDER in 2014, FILOFAX and LETTS in 2017.
